Warden Celia activates Oraym's ring, killing him
The Ring of Submission is a magical device used by the Dryads of Eirulan to ensure the compliance of prisoners. When a new prisoner is brought in, Taar places a ring around their neck like a collar, binding it with powerful magic; she does the reverse when a prisoner is released.
Normally, the ring emits a calming, green glow, but, when it is activated, the ring emits a red light as it quickly tightens, suffocating the prisoner. This usually occurs when a prisoner assaults a Dryad, as happened to a man named Oraym when he attacked Warden Celia.
After the Siege of Western Greilyn Beach, the Hero of the Second Age was fitted with a Ring of Submission, and was forced to prove that they were not loyal to Valdis before it was removed.
